Oz AU ⟶ After the gruesome murder of a city council member, police detain Carmen “Chico” Guerra, a local rival businessman who has also long been suspected of being a high-ranking member of the notorious gang El Norte. Detective Miguel Alvarez is brought in to assist with questioning because he and Chico have rapport; they were childhood best friends and foot soldiers in El Norte together before Miguel got on the straight and narrow. While it’s widely known that Chico hates his guts for turning blue all those years ago, that animosity isn’t the real reason Miguel is reluctant to get involved. The fact is, even though Chico was seen near the scene of the crime on the night it occurred, Miguel knows that it wasn’t Chico’s finger that pulled the trigger—it was his.
